SpaceInvader Is Now a Certified B Corporation™

SpaceInvader is now a Certified B Corporation™, the first independently owned interior design practice in Manchester and the North West to achieve certification.

This recognition reflects how we practise interior design. For us, good design has always meant long-term thinking, measurable responsibility, and spaces that deliver value beyond aesthetics. for people, organisations, and the places they serve.

B Corp certification involves a rigorous, independent assessment of performance across governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. Achieving certification confirms that our approach to design, decision-making, and accountability stands up to that scrutiny.

“Becoming a Certified B Corporation is a meaningful milestone for SpaceInvader and reflects work that’s been embedded in the studio for a long time. It’s a credit to the team and the way they approach projects, thinking carefully about reuse, carbon, place, and the long-term impact of design decisions. For us, this isn’t just about sustainable specification, but about designing interiors that are more thoughtful, more responsible, and better connected to the people and communities they serve.”
— John Williams, Founder and Director

As an interior design practice, our impact is created through the spaces we shape and the decisions that sit behind them. From retaining and adapting existing fabric, to specifying materials responsibly and designing for flexibility, every project carries long-term consequences.

The B Corp assessment reviewed our business across governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. Our strongest performance was in customer impact, recognising how our interior design services support clients in delivering ESG goals, social value, and durable operational outcomes.

It also reflected our approach to:

  • Circular and low-impact interior design

  • Reducing waste and embodied carbon

  • Delivering inclusive and accessible public environments

  • Operating with transparency and accountability

Certification is underpinned by real work. Projects such as the Renold Building in Manchester and Stopford House for Stockport Council demonstrate how interior design can support adaptive reuse, hybrid working, shared civic use, and reduced environmental impact.

Across workplace, hospitality, residential, stadia, and public sectors, our projects follow a consistent framework that prioritises reuse, responsible specification, and interiors built for long-term use.

“We are delighted to welcome SpaceInvader to the B Corp community. They are great example of how design-led businesses can use their expertise to deliver positive impact for clients, communities, and the environment, while also building a resilient and forward-thinking business.”
— Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK.

Becoming a B Corp reflects the commitment of our team, the trust of our clients, and the strength of our collaborators. It is not an endpoint. It provides a framework for continuous improvement, holding us accountable as we grow, refine our processes, and strengthen the positive impact of our work.
