Interior Designer Millie Fairbrother presenting the MMU design students

This week we welcomed design students from Manchester Metropolitan University into the SpaceInvader studio as part of Green Week, bringing fresh perspective, thoughtful questions and plenty of energy into the space.

During the visit, students spent time with our Sustainability Ambassadors James Lait, Abigail Tucker and Millie Fairbrother, exploring the crossover between sustainability, context and creativity, and how those ideas translate into meaningful, people-focused interiors. We shared how sustainability shows up in real decisions on live projects, from early concepts and material choices through to specification, longevity and the everyday experience of the people using the space.

It’s genuinely encouraging to see so many emerging interior designers taking a real interest in sustainable design, not just as a set of principles, but as a practical responsibility that influences how organisations function, how communities engage with space, and the long-term impact of buildings.

A big thank you to MMU for visiting. Our door is always open, and we look forward to continuing the conversation with the next generation shaping the future of design.
