Overbury’s Manchester Workspace Shortlisted Twice at FX Design Awards 2025
We’re pleased to announce that Overbury Chancery Place, has been shortlisted in two categories at the FX Design Awards 2025, one of the UK’s most respected interior design awards.
Recognised for both UK Workspace Environment and Workspace Environment Small (under 40,000 sq ft), the project has been celebrated for its bold approach to workplace design, people-first ethos, and integration of sustainability, flexibility and identity.
Located on the 13th floor of Chancery Place in Manchester’s financial district, this space is more than just an office, it’s a live demonstration of Overbury’s capabilities as the UK’s leading fit-out specialist. Designed to be both high-performing and highly expressive, the workplace supports hybrid working, collaboration, focus and wellbeing through a carefully zoned layout and considered use of materiality, lighting and acoustics.
Every design move reflects the central theme of connection, between colleagues, clients, brand and city. From a striking nautilus-inspired ceiling and sculptural joinery to hospitality-style social areas and inclusive wellness facilities, the space is crafted to support a modern, human-centred way of working.
The project was designed with a clear sustainability strategy and is targeting SKA Gold certification. Materials were carefully specified for environmental performance, including FSC-certified timber, low-VOC finishes, and circular economy furniture, with over 60% of items sourced from UK suppliers. Base-build elements were retained wherever possible to minimise waste.
Inclusivity was a key consideration from the outset, with dedicated parent and prayer rooms, a wellness suite and decompression lounge reflecting the diversity of user needs.
Overbury Chancery Place has already been recognised with the Insider North West Property Award for Workplace Fit-Out of the Year and as a BCO NextGen North showcase project. Being shortlisted twice at the FX Design Awards 2025 further affirms the scheme’s role as a benchmark for progressive workplace design.
“This was never solely about designing an efficient workspace, it was about creating an environment that reflects Overbury’s identity while supporting the people who use it every day. From the sculptural ceiling to the zoning strategy, every detail contributes to a narrative of connection, capability and culture, while positioning the space as a working showroom for what Overbury delivers.”
