New Penthouse at The Medlock Manchester is redefining private luxury in hotel design
Penthouse at The Medlock, Manchester
The penthouse at The Medlock, a Radisson Blu Hotel in Manchester, has been unveiled as part of the wider Medlock Square development, introducing a more private and elevated layer to the guest experience.
Designed by SpaceInvader, the two-level, 2,200 sq ft suite is conceived to sit apart from the hotel below, offering a greater sense of exclusivity and control. A dedicated entrance and private lift establish that separation from the outset, creating a distinct point of arrival and setting the tone for a more considered stay.
The layout has been carefully structured to support a range of uses within a single environment. Open living and dining areas allow for hosting and social interaction, while more enclosed spaces provide quieter, more controlled settings when needed. This balance enables the suite to shift between different modes of use, reflecting the expectations of guests seeking flexibility alongside privacy.
Panoramic views across Manchester and the Etihad campus play a key role in shaping the design. Rather than acting as a backdrop, they are used to inform the arrangement of spaces and create a consistent visual connection throughout. A private rooftop terrace further enhances this relationship, adding an additional layer to the experience.
The project responds to a growing demand within the hospitality sector for more personalised, experience-led environments. For this type of guest, value is defined not simply by scale, but by the ability to move seamlessly between hosting, working and relaxing within one space.
Delivered in collaboration with Radisson Hotel Group, Medlock Square and Valor Hospitality Partners, the penthouse reflects a broader shift towards more adaptable hotel design, where privacy, flexibility and quality of experience are central to the offer.
