Hilton London Bankside King Landmark Suite
SpaceInvader has designed the interiors for 76 new guestrooms and suites at Hilton London Bankside for Splendid Hospitality Group, drawing on the neighbourhood’s creative character to give the hotel’s expansion a distinctive local identity.
The project encompasses four related design schemes across 12 room categories, ranging from bold, expressive guestrooms to generously scaled suites with a more residential feel. Each has its own character, connected by an emphasis on sculptural forms, tactile materials and carefully considered details.
Bankside’s architecture, cultural life and proximity to the Thames provided a rich starting point for the interiors. Rather than relying on literal references, the design translates these influences into the shapes, colours and textures guests encounter throughout their stay.
Burgundy red velvet headboards sweep around beds like theatrical screens, creating a strong focal point within the guestrooms. Curved furniture takes its cue from the neighbourhood’s railway arches, while blue tones and flowing patterns echo the nearby river. These references establish a connection with the surrounding area while contributing to the comfort and atmosphere of each room.
Artwork developed with Studio Graphite adds another layer to the experience, inviting guests to discover details as they move through the spaces. Alongside bespoke furniture and tactile finishes, it helps give the interiors an individual character within the wider Hilton London Bankside setting.
Working across 12 room categories required a balance between consistency and variation. The four design schemes create a shared visual language while allowing the guestrooms and suites to offer different experiences. In the larger suites, a residential approach gives the spaces a more generous, relaxed feel, while the guestrooms introduce a bolder expression of the Bankside story.
Led by Imogen Woodage and Shreena Patel, SpaceInvader’s hospitality team combined thoughtful space planning with bespoke furniture design and close attention to the guest experience. The result is a collection of rooms and suites that reflects its location through both the overall design and the smaller details.
The expansion demonstrates how a hotel’s local context can inform interiors with a clear sense of identity, connecting the character of a neighbourhood with the experience of staying there.
